Debit card owners will pay twice
Be careful "debit card" owners or you will pay more than twice !
In 2024, I don't understand why it's not possible at Felirent to do a simple pre-authorization at the check-in on a "debit card" like I did for all my previous trips in others rental companies around the world.
Instead, if you do not have a "credit" card, at Felirent they will force you to subscribe to an extra insurance wich is 32€ per day !
So we paid a supplement of 128€ for 4 days wich is more expensive than the initial amount of our reservation 🤡. Fortunately we booked for 4 days and not for 2 weeks !
A pre-authorization would provide to the rental car company the guarantee that their is enough money on the card in case of accident by blocking the amount (the principle of a pre-authorization...), and the customer would not have to support this ridiculous extra cost.
I was ready to leave a deposit in cash but they did not want.
I would prefer giving a bigger deposit than having to add to the initial price a 50% supplement, especially when you are already on spot, at the last minute with no other option.
This should have been mentioned *CLEARLY* and not in small letters in the very bottom of the voucher.
If Felirent have no other options than using this terrible policy, they should at least do the necessary to ensure their customers have the information before check-in.
Unless you have a CREDIT card, do not book at Felirent.
