Save Yourself the Time and Money
I've completed the entire coursework with FPA and have published 8 books, 1 boxset, and 1 Lead Magnet following all their guidelines. I have diligently sent newsletters with swaps with other authors, joined group promos, run facebook ads that hit the bench mark numbers, created an ARC team to increase reviews, edit and re-edit my blurbs, redo my covers with newest trends, use top tropes, watch group coaching calls, ask for help in the facebook group, and all the other steps that they teach.
Between the cost of ghostwriters, editors, all the programs (like mailerlite, bookfunnel, bookclicker, etc.), and ads, I have invested over $8,000 (not including the $2,000 cost of the program). I have made less than $500 back on all my books.
I think the program does teach you about publishing, but it is not easy. It takes up a ton of time and effort (and luck probably), and very very few students actually succeed. The costs are way more than the $350 per book or whatever they claim is possible. The coaches are nice and can help with specific issues but there is not enough support or guidance to actually help you create a successful business. I think the advertising and assurances that anyone can do this are deeply misleading.
I really regret wasting so much time and money on this program and being a publisher, and I hope if you're considering it because like me, you're desperate for a better life with more income and not afraid of hard work to get there, DON'T fall for their marketing.
For me, the combination of lack of support, how they constantly push their 1-on-1 bookcamp of $10,000, lack of transparency on how much time and effort it actually entails, and weird emotional manipulation they use in the advertising makes this a really unprofessional and rather predatory business.
Let's just say, the Fiction Profit Academy actually does tell you the truth. The incredible profit they promise is all just fiction.
