I spent $750 for their lead generating platform. The cost is $30/lead and the chance of closing is about 1 in 4. So the cost is $120 per customer and on average the lead generates $100 of gross revenue. Once you add labor and travel you add on average $70-150 per win. So winning costs $190-270 though they aren't interested in these numbers.

I rate angi one notch above thumbtack. But both are questionable platforms.

Elliot Renovations LLC - Have Job Will Travel

The day after I requested my particular project be taken care of ( through Angi) I received a call from Warren Elliott. Warren was very engaging and sincerely interested in helping me get the job done. He asked me a lot of questions, requested photos of the area he would be working on, spent a lot of time thinking about the best way to handle it, included me in every step of the project, did not make any assumptions, and was an all-around professional. He came over two days after the initial phone call, totally prepared and ready to go. He showed up exactly on time, did the work in a timely manner, reviewed the cost of the work and materials, and then was on his way. He did a beautiful job and I plan to call him again whenever work is needed around my house.

Beware: All My Sons Movers of Pittsburgh

Contracted with All My Sons of Pittsburgh LLC
Experienced a classic Bait-and-Switch in professional movers and equipment promised, but the reality was slack employees, charging by the hour, along with a smaller truck than quoted and a broken dolly. This caused the move to run long, and AMS charged us for all hours. Hours were spent trying to reach someone to listen and help; nothing. An $800 estimate turned into $1691 in reality, and they held the property hostage until paid.

The plumber made the repair quickly.

The plumber assessed the problem and determined the course of action. He had the tools to complete the leaking water line. He was very careful not to damage the surrounding lines in the area of repair.

Driveway repaving

They rang my doorbell at 8:15am and completed paving my driveway by 1:30pm. Had several workers with them. Great work.

Scam

Scam, 1 of 10 leads materialized but then they charge for all 10. Contractors customer support sucks. Why charge the customer for access then charge the contractor for access? For example if a customer request tv mount they paid to join, lead fee charged to contractor for tv mount is $55, now where is there room for profit when a standard tv mount goes for $75? They will also mis label jobs to inflate lead fees. Be careful

Waste of Money - Play the System

They give you terrible leads and you cant pause your leads for more than 14 days online, if you call them you can only pause your lead flow for 30 days. Don't waste your money on them. You can play the system; pause your leads every 14 days so they don't charge you with unwanted leads, they will give you opportunities where you can accept or decline. You will only get charged for the leads you accept.

I put in a request for a deck project and quickly got back 4 responses. I met with all 4 contractors and got proposals; they were all well qualified and knowledgeable.

Brian

Brian, the owner has a lot of experience with Garage door maintenance and repair. He showed me how my door was not installed properly and efficiently when the house was built. The home builder did a cheap install. He upgraded my garage door with an extra brace and an extra spring which should have been done when installed! And he showed me what to look for when it doesn’t work properly! He is worth the cost totally!

Beware. Not For every business!

We signed up for Angi Leads 6 months ago for $750. We were told we would get 21 leads a month. In 6 months we got 12 leads. Of those leads they wanted everything now, didn't call back.... We got 1 purchase from 12 leads. We asked to have our money refunded and Collin in customer service told us this isn't possible! Even though another representative said it was. Collin asked why not just keep trying? #1 - they expect you to call the customer immediately. In a small business not always possible. If you don't jump through their hoops they won't give you a credit. Then if you ask for credits because customer doesn't get back to your account to review for too many credits. I know this process works for some businesses - beware their metrics are in their favor! 21 vs 2 a month is a big difference!
