My Nan has lived at McCarthy and Stone at Peel Court in Welwyn Garden City for years now. It’s a lovely building and her flat is wonderful, the shared space is always clean and welcoming for all. The staff are always kind and caring, even more so recently when my Nan has needed more help than before. Christine specifically has helped enormously with getting things organised for my Nan and always makes her laugh too! I would definitely recommend this McCarthy & Stone.

We cannot thank Aleks Clayton enough for her help & guidance in applying for Attendance Allowance for both my 96-year old mother & my husband who has restricted mobility. The application forms are somewhat overwhelming but Aleks guides you through the process with patience & respect. She is also willing to point you in the right direction to obtain information on matters which are outside her remit.

I had a one bedroomed McCarthy Stone flat before but I'm now back with a two bedroomed one in Wellington. The house manager, Rosie, couldn't have been more helpful about a few changes to the flat that I wanted to make and if I needed permissions or not from McCS. She also guided me through various form fillings that were required and made my transition back to a McCS development so easy. It's apparent that one can keep one's independence but if wanted, one can join in with various activities and most of the other residents are very friendly- It's nice to be back.

Another great stay at Catherine Place, Melton Mowbray. Jackie the HM is always warm & welcoming, taking time to ask about the journey & give an update on any changes that have taken place in the development since my last visit. When I leave she checks on my stay; this time there was a mini-fridge in the room which made a huge difference. The notice boards are excellent, giving information on all that’s going on there & there’s certainly a lot! Can definitely recommend a stay here.

Still waiting for an apology letter after receiving a bill for use of the guest suite, 2 years after my mother passed away and a year since they acted as agents in selling the property...atrocious admin...market harborough...and head office. If having to re sell, be prepared for a huge loss and very high bill for service charges etc.

Please see response below which indicates my post has not been read....my issue is not about my recent guest room stay...but that I received a bill , 2 years after my mother passed away, which should have been invoiced to the purchasers of the apartment who purchased this a year ago. Obviously I did not stay! Read and reply accordingly.
Please read my comments, have already spoken to various people and head office, who were supposed to arrange an apology letter, which has not been received......just sort out the apology!!!!!!!!

Kate Hodder, our brilliant House Manager here at Merchants Gate in Pollokshields, has excelled herself yet again. Several apartments here have come up for resale in recent months and - on top of all her other duties - Kate has successfully sold them all! This is not surprising. Kate’s welcoming, caring and capable demeanour means that all Merchants Gate homeowners, new and not-so-new, feel at home and become part of our cohesive and mutually supporting community. She is a credit to McCarthy Stone.

We moved into our flat in Meadowsweet Place, Melksham, Wiltshire just over a month ago and so far have been very happy here. The manager, Kevin, has been very professional and welcoming even before we actually moved in. We have been very warmly welcomed by the other residents as well. Regular activities are available in the comfortable residents lounge or further afield with shopping trips or pub lunches since we have been here. There is no pressure or feeling of obligation to join in these activities at all. Privacy is respected but neighbourly concern if worried about safety of frailer co-residents is the norm here. We are very happy to be here.

We are blesssd here at Isabella House, Hertford. We have a lovely, friendly group of people, a wonderful atmosphere, lots of fun and the best House Manager ever. June always has a welcome and a smile for everyone, every day! She helps us with whatever we need, is proactive, talented and amazingly knowledgeable and capable. Living here was a great decision, I love it!!

Paxton Court, Tenby.
My husband and I moved here a year ago. We moved from a lovely house and garden, which were getting too much for us. It was the best decision we made. Paxton Court is such a lovely place, in a beautiful setting - stunning views over the beach and harbour. And walking distance to everything. We have such fun here - all the owners are lovely and there is lots of comeraderie. We have gin nights and fish and chip nights among other things. The manager, Jackie, is extremely helpful and good fun. No regrets in moving here.

My mum has recently moved in to an apartment in Dove Tree Court. The apartment is a perfect size for a single occupant and is well appointed. The location is great with easy access to public transport, shops and amenities. The facilities are fantastic with the communal lounge, laundry room, roof terrace and landscaped gardens all maintained beautifully. The Building Manager, Jane Jones, is very friendly, welcoming and knowledgable. She always assists my mum with any queries and has helped her get settled in. There are plenty of activites on offer for residents and it seems to be a very welcoming community. I think my mum will be very happy here.

My husband and I moved into Farnham House, Quorn just six weeks ago. I knew within 48 hours we’d made the right decision. Shirley Munro, the Housing Manager, always goes above and beyond her remit to ensure that residents are in not only a safe environment but a happy one too! There’s plenty of events to keep residents engagement diaries full to entertain us all, and that’s mostly through Shirley’s hard work. I’d also like to mention Louise McKerchar who managed our purchase. Again, Louise did everything she could to secure our apartment as we had a few hiccups along the way but we got there in the end. Thank you to both Shirley and Louise.

My wife and I moved into the McarthyStone appartment s in Sandbach some16 months ago and were warmly received by the community there.We have now settled in and are looking forward to living here for a good number of years.The building is well run thanks to our recently appointed manager who has brought charisma and positivity to all she does.Her caring nature has endeared her to all residents which is shown by the excellent attendances at all the functions she organises.It is a pleasure to live here.Geoff and Pauline

I am among the first and oldest resdents at Paxton Court, Tenby. My late wfe and I moved here in 2014 and we both enjoyed the fellowship of the other residents and the facilities available, feeling secure under the watchful eye of the House Manager. The views of the harbour and bay are an added bonus.

Mum and Dad lived very happily for a number of years at Brueton Place, Solihull. It’s a friendly and beautiful place to live with homely apartments and quiet well kept communal gardens. The community lounge is well appointed and has a warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Brueton Place is well run by the House Manager, again who is warm and friendly, which helps to create the welcoming atmosphere which is most apparent when entering the building

At the age of 92 my father made the big decision to move to a McCarthy and Stone Retirement Living Plus apartment 8 years ago after my mother passed away. He chose Bowles Court in Chippenham, Wiltshire which is only 5 miles away from where I (his only daughter) live. Having lived in his previous 4 bed house for over 50 years there was a lot of sorting out to do. The Smooth Move service provided invaluable help not only with co-ordinating the sale of his property and the purchase of his new 2 bed apartment but also with organising the disposal of unwanted furniture and household items and arranging the removal company. The communication & support from them took such a lot of the strain off us at this stressful time and kept us fully informed.
Bowles Court has grown into a very friendly community with plenty of in-house activities for those that wish it. For those Homeowners who are mobile (or use a mobility scooter) it is situated close enough to the town and local amenities for ease of access and interest. The communal patio with riverside setting is lovely too. All the staff are friendly and supportive and nothing is too much trouble. My father is very happy and there is no doubt that this was the right decision for him. He has retained his independence but knows that help will be available should he need it. For my part it has given me peace of mind knowing that there are staff on hand 24/7.

Our father/father in-law purchased his apartment at Paxton Court when it was being built! He has lived here happily ever since! The Paxton Court community looks after each other and provides strong support when needed. It is a wonderful place to come and visit him and to be sure of his safety and comfort when we are not here.

Mum moved into Stiperstones last June, she has thrived since living here. All of the staff are professional and kind and care for Mum like family. It’s been a huge relief to have this support and kindness shown to Mum, the team keep me updated and the property and facilities are excellent. The location is great and it’s a lovely walk into Shrewsbury or there are some smaller shops literally on the doorstep.
