Travis Black does things right!

I enjoy catching people doing things right. Travis Black at Xlibris is one of those people. He has come through for me on every occasion of my need. Sometimes he knows my need before I do and makes suggestions showing me the benefits of something, not just the features. He is always happy when I send him money, but never loses interest between times! He is an excellent representative for Xlibris, and an excellent representative for me TO Xlibris. Every company needs a Travis Black today. He knows about Life Time Value (LTV) in an age when most know the cost of everything and the value of nothing. (Who do I talk to—to see that he gets a big raise?) I’m working on my third and fourth books with Travis now and we both are ready for more together.

My book is amazing and I’m grateful for…

My book is amazing and I’m grateful for that. However the marketing manager I’ve dealt with Unfortunately muddled up a lot of things leaving me very anxious and upset. Yes it’s been rectified thankfully but it’s left a bad taste. I was also never told what was happening and no payment transactions were given so I lost track of my purchases. For a huge professional company I am disappointed. I would like to see a big improvement in the future with dealing with them. But I love my book.

They dont tell you the whole story when…

SCAMMERS

They dont tell you the whole story when you first speak with them. Constant pressure salesmen. They charge the earth. This was my book but I had to pay THEM for everything. I consider them scammers

A most accommodating and helpful staff.

The staff had been helpful, no matter which person I dealt with. The person who laid out the book used his/her creativity which proved to be great. The individual who worked on the cover had been agreeable and, as well, creative in the layout and design. All personnel had been accommodating in all respects.

Xlibris - Is the Author Merely Revenue?

I give Xlibris/Author Solutions, Inc. 2 stars for an actual physical book that looks professional (and for the help of one person who helped me get the book to the publication stage).

However, my faith stops there. If there is an explanation, I will amend this report.

From experience, I have developed a very strong feeling that Xlibris' focus is on revenue from the sale of packages to its clients. I say this because I paid thousands of dollars to Xlibris, including a signup package for 100 percent royalties, and the royalty of $7-plus per book, that I was told I would get shrivelled to $2.50, then to 85 cents per book. The company's legitimacy was, understandably suspect. I have no problems, whatsoever, with posting the cover of the book to show that his review is from an actual customer of Xlibris).

Secondly, a marketing member of Xlibris/Author Solutions contacted me to tell me that my book was being given top priority by the company's reviewer team, and, for another $7,000, I could take advantage of the special status my book was being given. I did not pay this, as I was too suspicious of the company's actual focus (even though I had not yet discovered the dramatic royalty shrinkage from 7-plus dollars to 85 cents).

A finished work

I felt that the process was explained logically and explicitly so that I understood the steps that needed to be taken to reach the publishing goal. I also felt very supported in being able to fulfil each of the steps along the way.

a spade a spade and a scam a scam

I went with this company more to the point the AU branch. I thought this was going to be alright I was wrong. Instantly my personal life got involved and my plans for getting published got put on hold. There go after asking for a refund of my deposit my rep dragged his feet for months, then they threw a bunch of legal bull**** in face and told me that they were keeping my deposit. I thought it was odd when my rep was pushing the upsell like a salesman now I know they are crooks. They have robbed me several several hundred dollars that I doubt I will get back, right when I needed that money the most. Under no circumstance do I advise anyone to do business with these crooks

Also I'm proud to reveal the fact I am 84 - nearly 85 and all those books and one more published through Amazon were SINCE I TURNED 80! CAN ANYONE TOP THAT?

the services I paid for were very high

the services I paid for were very high, and I didn't even get most of them. the only thing I appreciated was the fact that they designed my cover in a timely fashion. Other than that, it was a no go. I also was passed between several different publishers and agents which I was unaware of! One was on a leave, but no one communicated with me about that. I called my book consultant many times (of course I had to leave a message), but they didn’t have the decency to call me back!
The financial department was not helpful at all all, they take their sweet time “refunding” my money. They kept pestering me also.
I was extremely excited about my first book being published but this company was not the place to do it. Very disappointing. Very unprofessional, and a company I would never recommend! Definitely will be sticking with self publishing for the foreseeable future

I appreciate the opportunity to clarify the issues you raised. Your book became available last month. The review service has an average completion time of 12 to 14 weeks. We have to send to each of the review sites and are dependent on their timelines. As for the royalties – we have sent an email outlining what steps to take and what to expect. You are paid quarterly through your bank. Please reach out if you do not understand the instructions in the email.

My publishing consultant at Xlibris, Rica Caro, has been so kind and generous with the special deals and unusual publishing needs of mine.

Rica is an expert in the field of on demand publishing and goes the extra mile to put authors needs first in her work.

Together, Rica has worked with me to publish 105 books of mine and is an extremely valued team member to get my concepts on proposed advanced space travel technologies out there to the wider audience.

Rica is a very well rounded publishing consultant and indeed is an expert in the field. She also enjoys cooking and as I have gotten to know her, she has shared with me some of her delicious recipes.

Xlibris in general especially Rica holds themselves to the highest standard of good business practices.

First time is a learning opportunity…

I am grateful for Xlibris not giving up on me. Although years had past from the initial contact, I was surprised when I was recently contacted and encouraged to move forward with the project. I was given ample opportunity to correct all the errors made within the text. However, due to my job assignment, I felt rushed to complete it. Patience is truly a virtue when pursuing a project such as this. I've learned so much from this process since this is my first publication. Next time it will be a better product.

No response from Xlibris

I posted that I have an issue with Xlibris publishing not handling a serious issue I have with them. In typical Xlibris style they responded that they saw someone dealt with my issue. This categorically not true. I can not believe that nobody at that company of authority will ever speak to a customer. At this point I highly recommend self published authors look elsewhere.

My initial contact with Xlibris was…

My initial contact with Xlibris was outstanding. Joseph really helped me get this to the editing phase. Without his help it would never have been published.

The editing and artwork phase was just as amazing.

My only negative for the entire process was the marketing teams persistence in trying to upsell me to a more expensive marketing package despite repeated requests to stop asking me and calling me.

All of my family and friends so far have been loving it.

I selected your services based on past…

I selected your services based on past experience by ignoring various offers for publisher but got very upset and confused when Mr. Travis Black ignored me to send the committed free books number for the author and even not responded on repeated contacts. At this stage I have no words to thank Mr Dustin Beeler who resolved the problem and delivered me 12 paper books according to set deal .I do not know how an author will be treated in such respect. Thank you

… Not fulfilling obligations

There was many promises that never fulfilled. There was an aggressive attempts to ask for more money to ask for more money and more again for the marketing.
An example, which upset me most was not having any support discussion, suggestions or anything else from graphic designers in relation to my front cover. At the end 90% of the job I did myself and surprise surprise it looks awful when I ask them for amendment they ask for more money my opinion that that is alpha and omega of this business just to get money out of gullible Older, people

Process Experiences

There is plenty of team effort up front. The pre-publishing phrase should be patience. I felt like I was rushed through the whole process, but after the proof signing of the cover and the interior, I did not experience the same anxiousness. But corrections were almost immediate doing the pre-publishing phrase. I felt that Xlibris was more concerned with selling products than having my best interest first. But overall I am satisfied with the finished product.

Experience was subliminal

Experience was subliminal. All around plain good, fun, and exciting for that matter. For example, the person was always there to get the task accomplished.
Very relieved that Id the time to work with the company. For instance, the team was always growing and with my presence. Much more to come-we can grow , and inevitably look back at what has been done!
