Please return my phone calls

Please return my phone calls. Also, I was told you would do a Facebook page for me, included in my package. I haven’t received any information about this Facebook page or information on my sales. It is apparent once you got my money, you’re unavailable.

The Tree That Grew Hair

My most recent published and released book is The Tree that Grew Hair. I was advised by Christine Mayo to develop a website to advertise my books. I went through the development process and was promised that all four books would be advertised on this website. What I received didn’t do that, there was just the single book- The Tree That Grew Hair. I thought this was misleading and provided no follow up. It seemed that this consultant was only concerned about getting a commission and that was it. I still have questions that need to be answered and would appreciate someone following up with me. This is my fourth book with Authorhouse and it would seem that by now I would get better costumer service than this.

Warning memoir writers stay away

I had a few lovey conversations with my sales rep before buying my publishing contract. I was sent "content guidelines" along with other information for my memoir But when I submitted my memoir it was rejected due to content, even though I followed their initial guidelines. I then was give a new list of content guidelines to follow. I would have had to make my story fictional to meet the new requirements. If you're publishing a memoir don't use them, it will only result in frustration and heartache.

Disgruntled Author

I have no problem with the quality of their printing/production but feel I've been cheated out of royalty $$$. They do not provide statements reporting the # of books sold. My book is being sold on Amazon, Google Books, Barnes and Noble, and Walmart. No accounting of units sold to those major on line retailers. My royalties have been a mere pittance in the 10+ years since publishing with them. No one will return calls or emails to assist me. Couldn't be more disappointed.

Trying hard to improve

Overall, Authorhouse did a fair job.
My observation and experience finds that calls or emails were not returned. When calls are made by some staff no message is left. Communication is lacking.

Too much concern over the all mighty dollar, really left a bad taste in my mouth. I know you need to make money but some of that leads to poor customer service.

The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing in some circumstances. Marketing jumps in too quick and absolutely no guidance provided for new authors.

Quality control-does anyone look at what is published after entry to Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Authorhouse. The information about the book was more of an authors note and other areas were left blank. Why aren't you using the information in the Submission Information Form. The form itself says you may send it in as a separate Microsoft document. Send to who and when?

Authorhouse do not provide post publishing service

Authorhouse do a good job of actually publishing a book for a very expensive price. That is where the good work ends. They misled me regarding marketing and sales. I was informed my package included marketing but I have been continually bombarded with phone calls from people wanting to sell me marketing services as Authorhouse do not provide this. I did pay extra for book fayres. They do nothing to help with reducing high book prices set by them on Amazon. Pricing which is totally unrealistic. They just continually try to get money out of authors. Chose a UK Publishing Company to get better value for money

My First Publishing Experience

This was my first publishing experience and the Authorhouse team answered all of my questions and honored all of the contractual agreements. They did a wonderful job of utilizing my graphic images for the book cover and the interior layout they proposed only need a few very minor tweaks. I have a second companion publication ready when the time is right and see no reason to publish elsewhere.

Run around the bush

I initially stated that I wanted my book to be a size of 8.5x11. During the process it was changed to 6x9. I didn’t know until I actually ordered a copy for myself. I immediately asked for it to be reformatted. I have worked with several people since. Most do not respond in a timely manner. I have to send four or five emails before I get a response. This has been going on since October 2023. It is currently mid December 2023 and I am still waiting to approve the reformatting of my book.

My experience with Author house was a profoundly exploitative one.

Run. Away. From. Author house. Run as fast as you can. My experience with Author house was a thoroughly disappointing and painful one. It was is all about money for them. There is no face to the business. Just numerous calls to expand services and pay more money. I only communication with someone called Homer Florez which I doubt is a real name. The editorial assessment of my book was just a ruse to keep me paying money in instalments like a telemarketing scam. No value added. When I eventually realized their con, it was radio silence. I want to say I'm grateful I decided to terminate the agreement but I still feel violated.

The package I purchased included…

The package I purchased included publication only. No editing or marketing was included and I was left to my own devices. I was surprised at this given the package was quite expensive. Now, as my book is in publication, I am nervous I will never receive payment for my work as other authors have reported that they have not received payment royalties for books sold. These reports have not increased my confidence with Authorhouse and the whole process feels like a scam. I am sad to say this has been my experience.

Grateful Author

I am a grateful author. I have worked with AuthorHouse for many years. The people I have met along the way have always been kind to me and very helpful. They have always believed in my project. All teams were knowledgeable and very efficient. My illustrator stayed with me through all the years in which I am most thankful. AuthorHouse, the very root of my project and I will never forget all the kindness you have shown me throughout the years.

Disgust

I have already sent an email to Dana Scot that will explain my disgust with Author House. If matters are not corrected I will never use the company to publish my books. I had a third book I was going to submit, but now I feel never again.

Baffled and Disappointed

I am baffled. A Sr Consultant was very rude, pushy and demeaning to me. I believe she was trying to make her quota as it was 11/30/2022. I’ve been in Sales and Marketing for most of my life. I have never, ever seen such a rude, shady person represent any legitimate company like she does. I’m actually embarrassed for her.

Choosing AuthorHouse as my publishing…

Choosing AuthorHouse as my publishing company as been truly an awesome experience! As a first time author your staff has guided me through the publishing process step by step.

My initial conversation and very first encounter was with Karen Stansberry. I cannot say enough kind things about Karen and how professional she was! Karen took all of my questions I had and answered every one with a sincere. caring heart. No question was too small and I learned a lot from her☺️. She was my first step about a year ago in fulfilling my dream of writing a childrens book!

Then there was Ashley Bullington, who was my last person to work with. Talk about a kind, caring individual…she was definitely it!! She not only answered all of my remaining questions but did so with a patient, knowledgeable talk about my final book publishing steps! I have referred AuthorHouse to many friends and family and will continue to do so. It was a wonderful experience☺️❤️

Leader in the Industry

The representatives are professional, knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, patient, and return calls promptly.
This was the first book that I ever had published and AuthorHouse made the whole process easy and smooth.
I would in good conscience recommend AuthorHouse to new and seasoned authors.
