Misleading statements from staff

The staff was very difficult to understand. They had broken English. At first, they said that production would start immediately and then after I made second payment, they informed me that the book would not go out to the public until it was paid off. Also, they said my packet included copies of the book to me and that I had $275 credit for marketing but instead at the end they used the $275 to pay for my copies of the book. Amazon and Noble has my books listed but not available.

Most of the consultants I worked with

Most of the consultants I worked with, from the outset, were professional, good listeners, provided good, clear advice, and answered telephone calls and emails almost immediately. Information Guides, FAQ's and other materials assist new authors with good suggestions for marketing your mark. I am very pleased with AuthorHouse and will sincerely consider them for my next book.

Money is the primary focus.

The company /individuals make their money off the authors and unfortunately nickel and dime (by the hundreds to thousands) them for everything. They charge for a program to ensure that no matter where else a buyer purchases a book, the printed copy will be good, only if you, their author pays a few thousand for it. The worst part is, when the author buys copies of their own book from their publisher, the quality may be poor and they don't do quality checks to ensure their authors get good copies. Regardless of whom they choose to make the copies with. Which sort of makes them like a boutique publisher.
In addition, you can't change the cost of your book for a sale blitz to increase interests or simply because it's older, etc. It ties the authors hands!

It makes it appear that the money is their primary focus. The people that sell these varied programs, edits, and such likely get a percentage of that transaction. I won't be doing the change of this book or future books with them.

On the positive side, the book cover came out beautifully, and everyone that I did speak to was pleasant.

SCAM......I was told I would recive…

SCAM......I was told I would recive 100% royalty, I was also charged nearly £5000 - £6000 to publish my book plus additional £250 for 30 coppies. My book was put online on Amazon, I was then told I would recive payment quartly for purchases. I had family and friends purchase my book to ensure this was true.....it has been over 1 year and I have recived no money, I have tried contacting Author House for a few months now and been blocked, ignored and told I will get a call back. THIS IS A SCAM....they take the initial payment to put the book online and after that you get blocked as they make money of your book and you get nothing. To end the contract means pulling the book and you have to start from scratch but they keep that initial payment. PLEASE DONT USE THEM.....me and my husband used our savings, money from friends, loans and took a risk....for this to happen.

We are currently trying to save up for court which is now costing even more.....and Author House still want contact me in anyway.

I apologize for any confusion. Your payments have been recorded correctly. You will be paid for the books sold since you signed up for EFT, which I see you did last week. I also see you are in contact to resolve any other outstanding issues. If you would like to discuss this further or would like to make any changes please contact us at inquiries@authorsolutions.com

AurthorHouse Will Steal Your Money If You Let It.

My book was laid out and published nicely. That part was good. But I want to warn all would-be authors. My book was recently voted one of the best in its class and been out over a decade, and yet according to AuthorHouse it sold only 250 copies and I receive only 12 cents per eBook sold! That's right, 12 CENTS! For soft cover and hard cover I might make $1-$2 per book although it retails for more than $25, so you can expect to get maybe 5% on the book price or less. Where does the rest of the money go??? Big money loser if you self-publish there unless it's worth it for your ego. And my book is sold worldwide and in major bookstores like Barnes and Noble, with 4-5 stars on average. I think the industry is a joke, scam, and needs major scrutiny. AuthorHouse will give you every excuse as to why your book does not sell and why the royalties are so low. It's never their fault and "rest assured" (when the phone reps tell you this, rest unassured) they will do everything to support you (read: support their money interests at your expense). Don't buy it. Something is VERY MAJORLY WRONG there, and I am on Trust Pilot because I do not Trust AuthorHouse. The company and entire industry need to be thoroughly investigated, authors need to get the money back they deserve, and if the royalties are actually correct after the expenses are deducted, then this is the most inept, mismanaged company I have ever encountered. Self-publish if you like, but just beware your book will 99% not sell much (under 50 copies if that) and you will lose big money on it. I am planning to write another book and will not use these AH's again.

We would love to investigate because these amounts do not seem correct, unless you priced your e-book incredibly low. Without any details or title of your book, I cannot look into it. Not all self-published titles sell under 50 copies. While we cannot predict book sales it is dependent on the author’s ability to market their book, the topic and timing. Some books find reader’s years after they were published. I hope you continue to try and get your book in front of readers as it seems like your book has been well received from the people who have read it. Please reach out to inquiries@authorsolutions.com for us to look into further.

Do you know lawyers for this

Do you know lawyers for this. (Someone said there is a statue of limitations. I don't see this on my contract that after a certain amount of time that they can make money of of my book without paying me. I published my book with Author House in March of 2011. To date I have no idea how many books have been sold. Since then and to date it is being sold all over the internet including by Author House. To date they have paid me around $4.00. If the book is not selling, then why are so many people selling it. The name of the book is When the Enemy comes by Delores Fischer. you can look it up. I have tried asking them many times over the years and i get no answers. When I first published my book they said I would receive $5.00 per book. I tried again today and because I don't have the same phone number or email address they said they couldn't pull up my account. Before when I called they asked my name, name of the book and the ISBN number. I'm in the process of filing a chargeback and contacting a lawyer about this since they're still ripping me off after all these years.

I apologize for any confusion. You have been paid correctly for the books sold prior to our conversion to EFT. We do have an outstanding payment that will be made once you sign up for direct deposit. I see where you received the instructions for doing this. As for the listings all over the internet – these are listings. Until someone purchases the book the retailers do not order it. This is not an indication of sales.

I am very dissatisfied with my project

I am very dissatisfied with my project. It is a reflection of my artwork as a writer as well as the education of alterhouses editing skills. Overall it is 90% great but I want to assume I paid for a 100% greatness. Also I would like to mention I am just being aware of the issues on my project that was published through your establishment, because of the extreme late delivery of my free five copy's of my book. I would like to connect with author house and go over these issues. I would also like them to be corrected and reprinted.

We are sorry to hear you are dissatisfied. We would be happy to review the editor's work. We will call you today to see how we need to proceed. I looked at your cover and interior and love the design of both.

Author House are just a business who will take your last penny. They don't care!

What do you mean 'this time'? My so called publishing consultant is insincere, bullying and does not listen. They are supposedly publishing a book for me, and she put pressure on me to offer another one for publication. This second book was not even completed, but she wouldn't listen to what I was trying to tell her. She pushed me to pay half of a first payment. I caved in just to get her off my back, as she is very intimidating. I have since scrapped this second book. I informed them in writing, but they have just sent me-unsolicited, an instalment payment plan agreement which obviously I won't be signing! Authorhouse have been horrible to work with. Admittedly, I am not a'digitaI' person, and am 74 years old! This has been a stressful experience which I would never repeat, neither would I recommend them to anyone else looking to get published!

I dislike the fact that choosing my art…

I dislike the fact that choosing my art work illustration we're not completely used as I wanted and the length of time frame it took to finish the children book. I also dislike the price of a children's book. However someone else stepped in to help work on the book and it turned out okay, so I was in between liking and not liking. I still feel like I should have gotten refunded back some of my money. I been with author since 2006 and I know that they can do better. Thank you all.

Hi everybody my name is Tami LYN I am… blind life matters! December 23-ish through present

Hi everybody my name is Tami LYN I am legally blind. I have written two books with author House, but this experience with my book what is Kwanzaa? Has been devastating. this book serves as a reference and resource guide however the mistake of putting the rough draft of my PREFACE in as my final manuscript has left me palmy with tears flowing of sadness. it has been a long journey from the incorrect spellings on the description page where you check out to having wrong covers and the first representative using her words. I am no hater, but being legally blind I depend upon the integrity of those I work with, collaborate and higher. I just cannot believe it I have been out here promoting the book on my 2 feet not computer savvy and this once I read this for myself I could’ve found it. Prayerfully this too shall pass you are so blessed to be able to see your own work and correct mistakes peace Tami LYN
