The final product is lovely. However, I had difficulty with the editor because every time I would correct something it would come back corrected but something else new was done wrong. I ended up paying an extra $300 for finding editor mistakes after the fact. Of all the mistake only one was mine!

I republished my book have on Balboa after getting one hour phone call from Balboa. I was led to believe that republishing my book with them I would get their marketing services what I was not told that I would get never ending demands for more money to get these services. Balboa may be ok if you have deep pockets but if you are a pensioner like myself go to Amazon.

When I published my first book with Balboa on Feb. 13th, 2022, everything went smoothly, and it was a pleasant experience. The second book was just published on March 31, 23, the experience was concerning for me because the proof was full of Publisher errors. The book was compressed from 400 pages down to 274 pages. The was no spacing between the paragraphs and there was no page separation between the subjects.
The book looks professional now and something to be proud of to sell. It seemed like I was dealing with new inexperienced people.

I have spent a lot of money on publishing with Balboa press and have had so many promises about how amazing my books are. Unfortunately, it is becoming clear that I have wasted a lot of money. I feel that Balboa is simply sales and does not think about the author. I am in Australia and after having to pay Balboa to purchase my own book to market locally, I have made next to nothing. Be careful about signing up.

The final product is great and even though there was a lot relative to getting permissions on quotes and images it was worth it. The only issue is communication from the contact person Lucas to the editting dept. was slow and many times inaccurate. It took almost two years to finally get this book done.

Good leading me through the necessary steps in the submission process. Good followup for marketing strategies after publication. Had zero editing help. Had to give instructions for changes many times over, as they often weren't corrected, and new errors were created. There was no one correcting typos or alignment of captions, or any editing whatsoever.

A very disappointing experience. Expensive from the start. Offering a 'full package' and then continuing to ask for more money. I cancelled with this company several months ago and am entitled to 50% of my money back and I'm still waiting. I only wish I'd researched them more thoroughly.

Parented by the state. A true insight into children being bought up by the state. A fantastic book, couldn’t put it down once I started reading. It really opens your eyes to a true life experience and how it really is

I felt very supported through the process of publishing my first book. I was always given clear information in a patient way, which was good because I felt overwhelmed at times!
The only slight disappointment was that the editing took a lot longer than it was supposed to and even then, I found a couple of unacceptable mistakes that were missed.
I would certainly work with Balboa again in the future.

I have had a wonderful experience publishing with Balboa Press. Everyone was very courteous and I found the process easy to follow. They were very helpful in turning my book into a reality and getting my book out into the world. I would recommend Balboa Press to those authors who don't want to do everything on their own and need some help in getting their book on the market. It was fabulous retaining complete control over my book.

I was not always able to speak to a representative, but someone always got back to me via email in a timely manner. I trust this company with great editing. Also, their page design and book cover are excellent. I could not ask for any more with my book cover. With my input, the design team created a beautiful and almost error-free book.

All of the staff at Balboa have been committed to me and my book and have wanted to see it completed and published. This was very helpful to me in the writing process. Staff were so supportive and wonderful offering some great help in the publishing process. I am stoked by how wonderful the book cover turned out. The main issue is that the soft-copy version of my book is not listed on Amazon despite being on every other book seller's website. This problem has been open for about three weeks and seems to defy any resolution by Balboa. Also, two of my books arrived partially damaged. The packaging of the five books as shipped was poor to say the least.

Balboa Press was so helpful in assisting me at all stages, to get my work published. I found the staff, each one, to be helpful, kind and infinitely patient. Upon completion of the work, I received a wonderful email from them, encouraging me. I now feel I can claim to be a real "author". Thanks to Balboa for making my dream a reality.

I noticed today the Balboa press has set up the W-8BEN form only for US authors. This from is set up to force foreign nationals to opt out by agreeing Balboa press to pay the 30% withholding rate. The address field is set up only for US authors and the bank account details are also set up only for US authors. If you are a non US author please stay away from Balboapress. They are a fraud and would need to be investigated.

There are too many people to deal with throughout the process of self publishing, (submitting, editing, printing, sales) and each time everyone bullies you into parting with more money. I complained to the company about this three times and not one person has been in touch to discuss

Balboa press have been extremely helpful and professional throughout the whole process. As a first time author the potentially stressful experience was made thoroughly enjoyable by all of the people at Balboa. They were also extremely expedient, the whole process took just over a month, which was amazing as it has taken me over 30 years to get to this point!

Customer service was very good. Prompt in replying any queries I had and were always very courteous. I was given accurate information about how long each step would take during the publication process.

Unfortunately I discovered that I was alone in the process of publishing my book. None to help me, give me perspective on what to expect, how to handle different aspects. They don't communicate next steps or the whole picture. The pitching is full of promises, which won't be delivered in the process (the speech will change and the deals won't come through, and they'll offer all sorts of expensive upgrades to get a decent book). I would not recommend it to anyone. In the end, I did all the work.

I was extremely pleased with every facet of the process of my book publishing experience with Balboa Press. From the first contact with my sales rep to receiving the printed books, I was guided by knowledgeable helpers at each step of the way. The entire process took a little over six weeks. It would have been much faster if I hadn't taken extra time to re-edit my manuscript. I was extremely pleased with the design of my book and the extra touches that made the printed version look very professional. I would recommend Balboa Press to anyone who is thinking of self-publishing. They are reasonably priced as well as helpful and efficient. They do make their money with their marketing services, so I would suggest that you weigh the cost vs. benefits.
