I can't believe these people can just lie to customers and get away with it. First they loudly tout their business model as,(we are in Bloomington Indiana) which come to find out you only get them during the separating you from your money part. After that it is all the Philippines. Scam capital of the world!!!!!! Every person I talked to there didn't even know what a Nook was or an e-reader. How do they market without knowing this, and they acted like they were reading from a script and when I ask a question they transferred me to someone else. I thought I was getting a scam call because they called me at 9:00am on a Saturday morning, total Philippine scam MO, but it turns out that was their marketing department. And most of them barely speak English. The guy I worked with at first made me trust him, got me to pay them, said he would be with me throughout the entire process, I haven't been able to contact him for a week, straight to the Philippines every time I call. Now that we are demanding our money back because they lied to use about their service they say they are keeping $100 of our money for canceling as per agreement. But this was never in any material that we have seen nor was it mentioned until we cancelled our project. I can only find two words for these people scam and scum. They prey on the hopes and dreams of people for profit. They are down there in the drudges of humanity with politicians like the mayor of Detroit, who over valued homes of the poor then raised property taxes to an un-payable amount only to sell these homes out from under these poor people destroying their dreams. This was a bait and switch as far as I can see. And that is not legal in this country. No more self publishing for me. Where has all the integrity and honesty gone? People don't do business anymore they stalk their prey.

I wrote a negative review about book baby, the company challenged it saying I was not a customer, Trustpolot ask for confirmation material that this Co. does not provide its customers and even so I gave info to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that I was along with my partner a customer, but they still killed the review because the company told them to. It was negative and this web page is run for the benefit obviously of the companies. Maybe they need to hire some people who will do there job and answer reviewers responses. They also put at the top of my review that BookBaby reached out to me and I did not contact them, thats a lie, I called them and tried to get the conformation materials trustpilot ask for they refused saying our user agreement on their web page is all we get. You ask them, Trustpilot, and you will see who is lying.


Oh contreir Brittany, I worked relentlessly with your compliance team and you just keep asking for more info set up by the Company until I had to submit very personal info that was un-refutable, then you backed off.

Well, at first the price is advertised as very resalable then you get into it and it shoots up to 10 times the come on price. We bit from just bone weary of the query letter system. Then they act as though they will be so easy to deal with until they get your money. CoAuthors be ware they will only deal with one of you. And then they become condescending, belittling, and down rite insulting if you don't let them edit your book. I edit and didn't need that option. They didn't take it well, because when they were converting our pdf file to create as much space as possible creating maximum pages (they charge by the page), they put marks between paragraphs to take up space, divide tension building scenes, with them ruining the scene how stupid is that. They also made a bunch of mistakes that weren't in the pdf file. Then they charged us again to fix them (Their mistakes) or we would just have to look stupid. So we had to pay again. Plus They took a 475 pg. book charged us for 620 pgs. printed a 520 pg. book and we just had to take it. Now I am having trouble with Kindle and come to find out they published my intellectual property under a secret name and email that they say I am not aloud to have and kindle will give me no information without it. That has been my experience with book baby.

Update: Bookbaby can't find my file. Thats because we were coauthors and they will only acknowledge one author, my coauthor is finishing her bachelors at Cal State and I am handling marketing now. And it is not my calling but I am trying. I got to say when you talk to some of those people at BookBaby are really just down rite hateful. They set it all up in my coauthors name so they have no record of me even though I am on the front cover as coauthor. If you have a vanity project, sure they can be fine if you don't mind the formatting errors. But, if you are trying to be taken seriously and break into the industry and get a real publisher there are so many better self publishing companies out there. BookBaby wants your money, as much of it as they can get. Apparently scruples are not prevalent in their business model. So take your book and your wallet and run as far from these jerks as possible.

More update,
I have been going through our submitted PDF file and the corrections we paid them to make, the mistakes they made when they formatted the book, and guess what, they took our money and never made the corrections. The second thing is they say they can't find me as an author, they are so stupid. It is the easiest thing in the world to find me and my book, they are just to stupid to think of it and I won't coach them. Either that or they just don't really care, either way they are still crooks.

And for any of these 5 star reviews I ask a question. Have you tried to get paid. Go to BBB and read those reviews they parrot my experience exactly. TRUSTPILOT HOLDS THEM IN SUCH HIGH REGARD THEN WHY IS THIER BBB SCORE D+? We are moving our book. And they say I am not a customer google my name Sharon Legge My book and name will come up. And who published it. They say I didn't contact them to get the Info to prove who I am, which a did already, and that we have an account with book baby. They refused to give the info trust pilot demanded as proof. BookBaby is printed rite on the book how much proof do you need. No the account is not in my name, we had to share an account because BookBaby demanded it be that way. And I could not find one positive review at BBB for this Co. This Co. is so bad they didn't make the list anywhere for best self publishing Co. I should have done all of this research before. That is why I am sharing our experience now.

DO NOT FALL FOR THIS, (WE DON'T KNOW WHO YOU ARE), WE CAN'T FIND YOU. THEY FOUGHT TOOTH AND NAIL TRYING NOT TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH ME (THE DREADED CO AUTHOR), BUT THEY WERE INFORMED IT WAS ME OR AN ATTORNEY SO THEY WISELY OPTED FOR ME. THEY KNOW EXACTLY WHO I AM AND HATE ME GUTS AND LIVER WHICH I WEAR AS A BADGE OF HONOR. I WRITE THIS TO HELP OTHERS NOT TO FALL INTO THIER TRAP LIKE WE DID. I SUGGEST YOU GOOGLE TOP RATED PUBLISHING CO. AND THEN BBB BOOKBABY RATING WHICH IS D+ BY THE WAY AND THEN READ THE REVIEWS AT BBB, YEAH IT IS BAD. I WISH I HAD DONE MORE RESEARCH IN THE BEGINNING, BUT BEING OUR FIRST TIME MISTAKES WERE MADE AND WE WERE TOO TRUSTING. HOPEFULLY OUR EXPERIENCE WILL HELP OTHERS.
